Dewar’s Whisky Masterclass with Myles Carroll

At Drinq Academy, passion for bartending and spirits education comes to life. We recently had the pleasure of hosting Myles Carroll, the renowned Dewar's and Malts Ambassador for India, for an engaging whisky tasting and masterclass. This special event was crafted for students and bartending enthusiasts keen to expand their knowledge and appreciation of whisky.
Myles Carroll led an informative session, starting with the basics of whisky. He delved into the intricacies of different malts and the detailed processes involved in their creation, from malting and fermentation to distillation and aging. Participants were given an in-depth look at how various factors influence the flavor and character of whisky.
The tasting portion of the class was particularly enlightening. Attendees had the opportunity to savor Dewar’s White Label and the luxuriously aged 12 Years Whisky. Myles provided expert guidance on identifying the subtle nuances in aroma and flavor, helping participants understand the complex profiles of these whiskies.

Adding a practical element to the theory, the session also included a cocktail-making demonstration. Myles showed how to mix three different whisky-based drinks: the Fresh Turmeric Hi Ball, which brings a zesty freshness; the Coconut Hi Ball, offering a tropical twist; and the timeless Classic Hi Ball. These cocktails exemplified the versatility of whisky and inspired attendees to experiment with their creations.
